Ofgem is working at the forefront of the fight to modernise and futureproof Britain’s energy system, harnessing digital innovation to combat the challenges of Net Zero and transform how the sector operates. We’re looking for a Principal Digitalisation Expert to join us and drive the strategic development of digital infrastructure and governance across the energy sector.
Ofgem is Great Britain’s independent energy regulator. We’re at the forefront of change across the energy sector, driving toward Net Zero whilst protecting energy consumers, especially vulnerable people.
We’re offering a permanent opportunity with the chance to shape one of the most significant areas of transformation across the energy industry. This is a high-profile role operating at the intersection of policy, technology and strategic delivery, with direct influence on how digitalisation evolves across the sector. You’ll play a key role in advising senior leadership on emerging technologies, digital priorities and the future direction of energy system digitalisation.
Working across government, industry and technical communities, you’ll help establish the infrastructure and governance needed for a digitalised energy ecosystem. You’ll contribute to major cross-sector collaboration, helping to ensure that digital transformation delivers practical, secure and consumer-focused outcomes for the future energy system.
You’ll join a team with a strong blend of technical and policy expertise, where collaboration and strategic thinking are central to success. The role will allow you to influence both operational delivery and long-term strategic direction, while helping colleagues and leadership better understand the opportunities digitalisation can unlock across the sector.
We’re looking for someone with significant experience in digitalisation, digital transformation or technical architecture, alongside the ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear strategic solutions. You’ll bring strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with experience in an advisory role, working on multi‑organisation complex projects.
In return, you’ll be part of an inclusive and high‑performing environment that values innovation, expertise and impact. You’ll work closely with government, regulators, industry and digital specialists, contributing to nationally significant work while operating within a collaborative culture that encourages fresh thinking and strategic influence.
We have a critical purpose to develop the digital infrastructure and governance that will underpin a smarter, more secure and more connected energy system. Join us in driving forward the digitalisation of the sector to support Net Zero, improve resilience and deliver better outcomes for consumers.
