Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust offers a countywide Dermatology service and the post holder will be working with our excellent skin cancer service. You will be working alongside the consultants, diagnosing actual and potential skin cancers, and reviewing patients following diagnosis with skin cancer, inform the patients of their diagnosis, support and monitor throughout their journey. The post holder will attend and present cases in the skin cancer MDT meetings and ensures onward referrals are made review and manage through patient clinics for maintaining a high quality care.
The post holder will be supported by our Advanced Clinical Partitioners, our medical colleagues and Matron. We are looking for a motivated candidate who shares our vision and is willing to support and mentor junior staff and assist the wider team in the development and expansion of our dermatology clinical services.
The post holder is responsible to establish a friendly working environment and help independently support clinics once competencies have been achieved in an agreed period of time.
Acts as a role model, achieving high levels of clinical expertise, managing and delivering individual patient care. As a specialist nurse, there is an expectation of proactively promotes staff education and development, ensuring its relevance to the practice area and individual needs.
As a specialist nurse we would expect you to learn to assimilate and communicate skin cancer diagnoses to patients and their carers which could be complex, distressing and highly sensitive. You should also be responsible for providing patients and their carers with information regarding their skin cancer diagnosis and prognosis, ensuring that patients, relatives and the multidisciplinary team understand and accept the reasons for treatment (or non-treatment) plans.
The post holder is expected to work closely and positively with other professionals to ensure the operational delivery of high-quality care, clinical safety & effective clinical governance within given resources. Also, to adhere to all GHNHSFT policies and procedures and NMC professional code of conduct.
