Henshaws is a northern charity supporting people living with sight loss and other disabilities. Our aim is for everyone, wherever they are, to live independently and fulfil their potential. Through support, advice, training and community-based services, we help build confidence, skills, and opportunities for people and their families.
About the role
You will be leading the Enablement and Digital Enablement Teams, which form part of our Sight Loss Support service in Manchester. The Enablement service includes practical skills training, digital support, counselling, and community hub activities. In the last year, we worked with over 3,700 people (1,100 new users), through nearly 29,000 interactions across Greater Manchester & Merseyside.
Your role will be operational: delivering high-quality, outcome-focused services; ensuring excellent standards of safeguarding and quality; managing budgets, contracts and reporting; and working alongside commissioners, funders and partners. You will also contribute to the wider leadership of the Sight Loss Support Team.
Key responsibilities
* Lead and manage the Enablement & Digital Enablement teams day-to-day.
* Ensure services deliver measurable outcomes and maintain high quality & safeguarding standards.
* Oversee budgets, contracts, and required reporting.
* Develop sustainable relationships with commissioners, funders & community partners.
* Work closely with Heads of Children & Young People and First Steps to deliver cohesive service strategy.
What we’re looking for
* Experience in managing multiple teams or services, including across different locations or disciplines.
* Strong skills in financial & service management.
* Proven ability to work collaboratively with commissioners, partners and funders.
* Background in developing services or partnerships in health, social care or the voluntary sector.
* Commitment to equality, inclusion, and the mission of Henshaws.
* Experience with NHS or local authority commissioned services.
* Understanding of health and social care funding mechanisms.
* Enhanced DBS check required (children & adults).
* Able to travel regularly across Greater Manchester and region.
