Hoots offers breakfast and afterschool club care to the children of Toftwood infant, Junior and Scarning primary school.
We also offer a full time holiday club available in all school holidays.
In addition to our clubs we operate 2 Ofsted Outstanding nurseries in close proximity to Hoots.
Little Owls Toftwood which offers 100 places and Little Owls Scarning which offers 54 places for pre school children.
Due to a high increase in children joining our After school clubs in the Autumn term we are currently looking to recruit a new playworker to support the planning, delivery, and supervision of safe, stimulating, and inclusive play opportunities for children and young people. The Playworker will help create an environment where children can freely explore, learn, and develop through play.
Key Responsibilities:
* Supervise and engage with children during play, ensuring a safe and welcoming environment.
* Support the delivery of varied play activities, both structured and unstructured, that promote creativity, confidence, and social interaction.
* Encourage positive behaviour and inclusion, respecting the needs and abilities of all children.
* Assist in setting up, maintaining, and tidying play areas and resources.
* Build positive relationships with children, parents/carers, and colleagues.
* Support children's individual needs, promoting their physical, emotional, and social development.
* Follow safeguarding, health & safety, and organisational policies and procedures at all times.
* Contribute to the planning, evaluation, and improvement of play sessions.
* Attend training and staff meetings as required.
Person Specification:
Essential
* Enthusiasm for working with children and young people.
* Understanding of the importance of play in child development.
* Ability to communicate effectively with children, families, and colleagues.
* Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
* Reliability, flexibility, and ability to work as part of a team.
* Driver
Desirable
* Experience working in a playwork, childcare, or youth work setting.
* Knowledge of playwork principles and child development.
* Relevant qualification (e.g., Level 2 or 3 in Playwork/Childcare or equivalent).
* First Aid and/or Safeguarding training
* Driver
A car driver with a clean driving licence would be an advantage but not essential as school collections could be included within this position.
This is an exciting opportunity to work within an Outstanding After School Club which offers fabulous resources and daily planned experiences for our school age children.
You will have key worker responsibilities so an excellent communicator with our parents, staff and children is also an essential requirement of this position.
The hours of work can be flexible but ideally would range from 7.30am-9.00am and pm Monday to Friday all year round with additional hours in the nursery and during school holidays.
