The Pharmacy Department at SWYT are seeking to recruit a Senior Pharmacy Assistant to support our procurement and dispensing team based at Fieldhead Hospital. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring we procure, supply and distribute medicines safely, effectively and efficiently. 1 x 22.5 hours per week.

Responsibilities
* To assist the Technical Services Manager in the provision of an efficient dispensing stores & distribution service following SOPs, with day-to-day management and supervision of the pharmacy assistant team.
* Lead and coordinate the dispensary workflow and provide leadership for the ATO team, looking at innovative new ways of working and embracing new technology.
* Manage staff rotas and sickness records, including return-to-work interviews and reporting concerns to the line manager.
* Assist with recruitment and appraisals of staff in accordance with department policy/SOP and in conjunction with the Technical Services Manager.
* Organise staff and ensure rotas are covered; assist with ward stock checks and controls; cover duties during absence.
* Data entry including ward requests and ensuring stock is supplied in a timely manner.
* Lead on the Pharmacy computer software for stores functions, day-to-day house-keeping and responding to queries; liaise with the company as necessary.
* Participate in the dispensary rota and maintain dispensary competencies.
* Sort, count, check, distribute and book back stock through the computer system (including destruction of unwanted medicines); respond to emergency stock issues.
* Answer the telephone and deal with queries, communicating with relevant staff as required.
* Assist with keeping shelves clean, expiry date checks, stock control and rotation.
* Comment on department policies/SOPs that affect the role/team.
* Participate in surveys, audits and health & safety activities as required by the Technical Services Manager.
* Support Health & Safety requirements for the department, including risk assessments and mandatory training; report identified risks to the Technical Services Manager.
* Receive visitors and stock deliveries when necessary; assist with training of new and current staff to ensure skills are up to date.
* Responsible for daily temperature monitoring using current processes.
* Any other reasonable duties, including participation in training, to fully develop the post. The postholder will participate in the Weekend and Bank Holiday rota for the department.
Essential Qualifications and Skills
* Essential Minimum 3 GCSEs
* NVQ Level 2 in Pharmacy Services, Buttercups or equivalent grandparenting
* Level 3 qualification in pharmacy or equivalent experience
Special Knowledge / Skills
* Accurate, numerate
* Ability to prioritise work
* Keyboard skills and computers
