Offer description

Do you want to be at the forefront of transforming clinical pharmacy?

We are creating innovative pathways to develop clinical leaders and are looking for highly motivated and enthusiastic pharmacists to join our expanding team. Due to a number of internal promotions, and building on the success of our new integrated training scheme for foundation pharmacists, we are delighted to offer opportunities working in cross‑sector posts, combining a role in GP practices with hospital wards/departments, with future opportunities to review sector‑specific roles. These posts will be patient‑centred and will give you the opportunity to develop your clinical and technical skills in practice.

You will receive support from an educational supervisor, the wider pharmacy team and peer support from other Foundation pharmacists. Successful applicants will be supported to complete the RPS Post Registration Foundation Training programme which equips pharmacists with a broad range of core skills via completion of learning outcomes, to become clinical practitioners. The course includes the independent prescribing qualification.

93% of our staff on training programmes received their study time and 100% of staff had regular meetings with their educational supervisor, within the agreed frequency.

The NHS Fife Pharmacy and Medicines Directorate provides an integrated service to a population of approximately 380,000 people, with a team of around 300 pharmacy staff, including pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, support workers, nurses and administrators. We pride ourselves on being a vibrant, welcoming and friendly team, consisting of hardworking, talented and dedicated individuals who work towards a common goal of putting patients at the heart of everything we do. We are committed to our staff’s experience and development and ensuring both staff and patients experience the same compassion and empathy.

Work across Acute and Community hospital sites, general practices, mental health services and a range of specialist teams. Partnership working is at the core of our values, and we work closely with other members of the multi‑disciplinary team, including our Community Pharmacy colleagues, to deliver the highest quality care for everyone in Fife. There are opportunities to become involved in a range of projects across the integrated pharmacy service and to shape the future vision for the service.

Hospital or primary care experience is not essential; training will be fully supported. The posts are also open to pharmacists currently undertaking their postgraduate foundation training year who would be able to commence post later this year.

We offer flexible working and family‑friendly policies and fully support disabled candidates, and candidates with long‑term conditions or who are neuro‑divergent by making reasonable adjustments to our recruitment policy and practices.

NHS Scotland is committed to encouraging equality and diversity among our workforce and eliminating unlawful discrimination. The aim is for our workforce to be truly representative and for each employee to feel respected and able to give their best. To this end, NHS Scotland welcomes applications from all sections of society.

A requirement of this post is to become a member of the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme prior to appointment.

As part of the pre‑employment checks for a preferred candidate, NHS Scotland boards will check your entitlement to work in the UK. You can evidence this through various routes including specific visas, EU settled and pre‑settled status. If you do not have a right to work in the UK, it might be possible to secure sponsorship via a UK Skilled Worker / Health & Care Worker Visa, subject to the employer being a licensed sponsor and the post meeting the current salary threshold.

Please ensure you have an appropriate right to work in the UK or that the post would be eligible for sponsorship before submitting your application.
