What you'll be doing
* Ensure the smooth and safe operation of all building services within the East Slope and West Slope student accommodation developments.
* Oversee planned preventative maintenance (PPM) across mechanical, electrical, HVAC, plumbing, and fire safety systems.
* Lead on reactive maintenance, ensuring timely response to resident and facility requests.
* Schedule and manage routine inspections and compliance tasks (EICR, gas safety, fire alarms, lifts, etc.).
* Maintain accurate maintenance logs, documentation, and statutory records.
* Act as the Authorised Person (low voltage, mechanical), Responsible Person (Water), and COSHH coordinator.
* Manage and mentor a technical team, supporting skill development and ensuring high standards of workmanship.
* Liaise with external contractors and stakeholders, managing contracts and ensuring quality service delivery.
* Develop and monitor KPIs, prepare regular reports, and drive continuous improvement.
* Assist with building refurbishments, upgrades, and planned expansion projects.
* Maintain statutory compliance with health, safety, and building regulations, overseeing risk assessments and audits.
Qualifications
* HNC/HND or equivalent in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering.
* IOSH or NEBOSH accreditation (desirable).
* Membership of a chartered body (desirable).
Experience
* Minimum 5 years’ experience in maintenance management.
* Proven track record in managing technical teams, PPM systems, and compliance.
* Experience managing external contractors effectively.
Skills & Competencies
* Technical competence across mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and fire systems.
* Strong leadership, people management, and interpersonal skills.
* Excellent organisational, planning, and budgeting capabilities.
* Proficient in building management and FM software systems.
