Overview
Lecturer in Transport Engineering at UNSW in a Teaching and Research role within the School of Civil and Environmental Engineering, Faculty of Engineering. The position covers the work of academics within the school who have ARC fellowship appointments. The role focuses on high-quality teaching and research in transport engineering, with emphasis on emerging technologies in transport such as predictive modelling, real-time traffic analytics, and autonomous vehicle integration.
This role reports to the Head of School and has no direct reports.
Responsibilities
* Deliver high-quality teaching and research in transport engineering with emphasis on emerging technologies (predictive modelling, real-time traffic analytics, autonomous vehicle integration).
* Engage in teaching design, development and delivery at undergraduate and/or postgraduate levels.
* Utilise and design with educational technologies and online delivery methods.
* Contribute to research with outcomes of high quality and impact, and demonstrate leadership in research activities.
* Collaborate with colleagues across disciplines and support student equity, diversity and inclusion initiatives.
* Support and mentor students from diverse backgrounds and contribute to quality student experiences.
* Contribute to professional engagement with industry and work-integrated learning opportunities where applicable.
* Collaborate within a dynamic research environment to advance transport engineering capabilities at UNSW.
Qualifications
* A PhD in a related discipline, and/or relevant work experience.
* Proven commitment to staying up-to-date with discipline knowledge and developments.
* Experience in teaching and learning design, development and delivery at undergraduate and/or postgraduate levels.
* Experience using and/or designing with educational technologies and online delivery methods.
* Evidence of teaching effectiveness and a passion for educational excellence.
* Desirable: knowledge of industry or work-integrated learning experiences.
* Evidence of ability to support and inspire students from diverse backgrounds and to promote equity, diversity and inclusion.
* Strong research track record with high-quality outputs and potential for leadership in research.
* Significant involvement with the profession and/or industry.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to network with a diverse range of stakeholders.
* Demonstrated ability to work in a team, collaborate across disciplines and build effective relationships.
* Strong interpersonal and organisational skills.
* Awareness of UNSW aims, objectives, values, and relevant policies; commitment to health and safety responsibilities.
* Willingness to participate in health and safety training as required.
Salary, Terms and Location
* Level B, Salary - $127,947 to $150,830 per annum + 17% superannuation.
* Full-time
* Fixed-term contract – 4 years
