Position: Laundry Assistant

Location: Olive Row Residential Care Home, Albert Street, Kettering

Job Overview: As a Laundry person you will ensure the effective and hygienic laundering of residents' clothing, bed linen, towels, and other items in line with infection control procedures and care home standards. The Laundry Person plays a vital role in maintaining comfort, dignity, and cleanliness for all residents.

Key Responsibilities:

* Collect, sort, wash, dry, iron, and fold residents' personal laundry and care home linens.
* Ensure all laundry is correctly labelled and returned to the correct residents.
* Operate washing machines, dryers, and other laundry equipment safely and efficiently.
* Use appropriate detergents, disinfectants, and wash cycles in accordance with infection control guidelines.
* Inspect laundry for damage or stains and report any issues to the line manager.
* Maintain a clean and tidy laundry room, adhering to all health and safety procedures.
* Follow COSHH guidelines when handling chemicals and cleaning products.
* Assist with stock control and inform the manager when laundry supplies need replenishing.
* Respect residents' belongings and handle all items with care and discretion.
* Work collaboratively with care staff to meet the needs of residents.

Skills and Experience:

* Previous experience in a similar laundry, cleaning, or housekeeping role (preferred but not essential).
* Understanding of infection prevention and control practices (training provided).
* Good organisational skills and attention to detail.
* Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
* Respectful, compassionate, and sensitive to residents' privacy and dignity.
* Physically fit and able to carry out manual tasks.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Physical stamina to perform cleaning tasks and lift/move heavy objects if required.
* Reliable, punctual, and able to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
* Understanding and sensitivity towards the needs and privacy of older adults.

Working Environment:

* Based in a care home setting with access to a fully equipped laundry room.
* Requires standing for long periods and manual handling of laundry bags and equipment.
* May involve working weekends or shifts depending on rota.
* Ensure all laundry is correctly labelled and returned to the correct residents.

* Cleaning: 4 years (required)

Language:

* English (required)

Licence/Certification:

* Driving Licence (preferred)
