At Turning Point, we support people across The UK with mental health, substance misuse, and learning disabilities. As a Youth Support Worker, you will make a real difference in individual’s quality of life by engaging with people to improve their daily living skills. As a Youth Support Worker, you will join The Lancashire Young People supported accommodation services that support 18 young people (Aged 16-21) across two locations in Chorley – (Parker House and The Bridge) who are threatened with homelessness, leaving care, looked after children, or young people at risk.


Role Responsibilities

You will need knowledge and experience working with young people with complex needs, homelessness, looked after children, and care leavers who struggle to maintain a tenancy due to unmet needs. You will support young people to maximize their benefits, gain independent living skills, promote independence, health, wellbeing, and healthy lifestyle choices, and support their involvement in local training, education, and employment opportunities.


The Ideal Candidate

We’re looking for a Youth Support Worker with NVQ Level 3 or equivalent experience/qualification in Youth or Social Work, and a solid understanding of homelessness and its impact on young people's wellbeing. Experience in support planning, re-engagement, and motivating young people to participate in employment, training, volunteering, and skill-building opportunities is essential. The role involves flexible hours, including some evenings and weekends, and requires prioritizing caseloads and planning actions to meet deadlines.

You should be a great team player with energy, strong communication skills, flexibility, a positive attitude, empathy, understanding, and patience to achieve targets in a challenging environment.
