Position

Principal Analyst / Team Manager – Performance, Information & Insights (PII) team, based at Ailsa Hospital.

Full‑time (36 hours). Permanent hybrid role.


What You Will Do

* Devise and promote a framework to provide high‑level advice on the use and interpretation of data and information, and oversee implementation of analytical skills and theory. Support capacity building within the PII team and wider organisation.
* Ensure the provision of data, information and analytical expertise to support the Acute Directorate, Corporate Directorates and the Health and Social Care Partnerships.
* Define and enhance the team’s role, line‑manage and develop staff, and support broader organisational needs.
* Lead a numerate and analytical team, manage an extensive work plan, and scope the future role of the team to meet changing organisational needs.
* Provide expertise to enable NHS Ayrshire & Arran to adapt national, regional and local decisions and shift the balance of care to meet current and future patient needs.


Requirements

* Master’s degree or equivalent in a relevant academic discipline.
* Degree in a numerate subject or equivalent qualification.
* Experience at a strategic level, working with Directors, Non‑Executive Directors and senior managers.
* Experience managing staff and supporting their development.
* Track record of developing structures and systems to achieve organisational goals.
* Knowledge of NHS statutory framework, integration of health and social care, and policy/planning frameworks nationally, regionally and locally.
* Experience of working in the NHS, public sector or a similar data intelligence or performance management role.
* Highly proficient in data analysis with excellent numeracy and statistical skills.
* Knowledge of statistical software packages.
* Experience drafting and presenting reports to NHS Boards, governance groups, directors and senior managers.
* Pragmatic and flexible problem‑solving approach.
* Awareness of the political sensitivity of information and ability to navigate complex issues strategically.
* Highly developed interpersonal, communication and influencing skills.

To work in the United Kingdom, you must demonstrate the relevant right to work. NHS Ayrshire & Arran may offer visa sponsorship for suitable roles where the salary meets the required threshold. Sponsorship is assessed on a case‑by‑case basis after interview and pre‑employment checks.
