Are you a skilled Mechanical Estimator with a strong background in HVAC and M&E projects? Do you thrive in fast-paced environments, with a keen eye for detail, commercial risk, and project profitability?
Our client – a well-established building services contractor with over 40 years of success – is expanding their team and looking for a talented Mechanical Estimator to support their continued growth. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a reputable company that offers long-term job security, career progression, and genuine investment in your professional development.
You will be required to travel to sites in London.
* Strong mechanical engineering background with understanding of wider M&E disciplines
* Excellent communication skills across all levels (internal and external)
* High-level organisational and time management abilities
* Energetic, proactive, and self-motivated
* Demonstrated ability to estimate and secure projects up to £5M
* Minimum 5 years' experience in HVAC-led project environments
* Confident working both independently and within a team setting
Core Responsibilities:
* Apply the company’s Bid/No Bid protocols rigorously, escalating where necessary
* Review and interpret contract documents, drawings, specifications, and site information to produce accurate estimates
* Prioritise and manage multiple deadlines efficiently
* Identify and assess operational and commercial risks prior to bid submission
* Use Ametch to prepare clear, modular estimates covering labour, materials, specialists, and time – delivering compliant scopes and margin targets
* Develop value engineering and alternative bid proposals where appropriate
* Strengthen the subcontractor and supplier network by sourcing and introducing new, skilled options
* Improve and structure the internal costing database to suit varying work types and sizes
* Complete all elements of the Project Handover and Mobilisation Checklist for successful bids
* Flag any variation opportunities or risk items to the delivery team during project handover
* Attend client meetings, tender interviews, and presentations as required
* Support compliance with all Health & Safety requirements and initiatives
