As a Senior Communications Officer, you’ll play a key role in supporting senior communications colleagues and managers to deliver impactful campaigns and day-to-day communications activity. Your work will span a wide range of projects – from supporting local services to shaping borough-wide priorities – and no two days will be the same.

What You’ll Be Doing
* Supporting the planning and delivery of effective communications, media and marketing activity.
* Developing and managing creative content for print and digital platforms, including social media and the council website.
* Identifying reputational risks and supporting media responses in a timely and professional way.
* Collaborating with services and councillors to provide clear, accessible messages for residents, partners and staff.
* Monitoring the success of campaigns and activities, using insight and evaluation to continuously improve outcomes.
* Managing small-scale budgets and briefing designers, suppliers or internal teams to deliver quality outputs.
* Helping to keep internal communications fresh and engaging using a range of staff channels.
What We’re Looking For
We’re looking for someone who is enthusiastic, organised and ready to contribute to a busy, high-performing communications team.
You’ll have:
* Experience delivering communications, PR, marketing or media activity.
* Excellent writing skills with a strong eye for detail.
* Confidence working across digital and print channels.
* The ability to balance multiple priorities and meet deadlines under pressure.
* A good understanding of reputational risk and political sensitivity.
* Strong interpersonal skills – able to build positive relationships with colleagues, councillors and external partners.
* You’ll also need to be comfortable using digital tools, social media platforms and content management systems (WordPress experience is a bonus).
