The role in brief: An opportunity has arisen to join the internal finance team as a Management Accountant. A Top 100 accountancy practice in the country, we provide accounting, advisory and financial planning services to clients across the North West, and beyond. Who we are looking for: This is an ideal opportunity for a detail-orientated Management Accountant with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines who has prior experience in a Management Accountant role and is looking to work within internal finance for a local SME service provider. We are looking for somebody to progress with us long term, as we think about succession planning into the future. What the role involves: Reporting to the Financial Controller, you will be involved in: • Producing accurate and timely monthly management accounts for multiple companies including key performance indicators and budget v actuals. • Maintaining the fixed asset register. • Ensuring VAT returns are submitted in compliance with UK regulations. • Preparing weekly supplier payment runs. • Production of monthly and ad-hoc financial and non-financial management information for the senior leadership team. • Supervising and assisting other finance team members to ensure the accuracy of book-keeping entries and control of the purchase and sales ledgers, control accounts and inter-company balances. • Coaching and supporting other team members to maintain high standards and improve processes and efficiencies. • Working closely with the Financial Controller in developing policies and procedures and using technology to improve efficiencies within the internal finance function. • Assisting with the production of budgets, forecasts and regular and ad-hoc reporting. These will comprise personal effectiveness as well as your technical skills. We have 6 monthly performance review conversations to ensure your development is on track, as well as optional monthly 1-2-1s. You will also have the opportunity to work with a mentor. We also encourage you to get involved in wider firm initiatives and have your say on how we can progress on our journey towards being the best North-West firm of finance professionals. Your attributes: As well as experience within a similar role we’d like you to be: • Keen to play an active role in a dynamic team and willing to contribute to the success of the team and the firm as a whole. • Passionate about providing great client service. • Great at communicating with people at all levels – face to face and in writing. • Eager to contribute to technological advancement within the role and wider firm. • Good at working under pressure. • Motivated and well organised. • Positive and good at using your initiative. Our ideal candidate will: • Be qualified (i.e. ACCA, ACA, CIMA etc) or Qualified by experience. • Be looking to progress long term into a leadership or FC position. • Be willing to get involved in a variety of transactional accounting and finance monthly tasks when the need arises. • Be proficient in MS Excel, Dext and Xero and willing to learn new technology as business needs evolve. • Ideally have experience in a multi-company SME environment. • Ideally have some experience in supervision or line management.
