Job Description:
Manpower is currently seeking an interim Assistant Technical Project Leader to work with our global FMCG client Unilever, renowned for brands such as Dove, Sure, Persil, and Simple. This role is part of their fast-paced FMCG environment.
The position is based in Seacroft, Leeds. It is a full-time temporary role for 6 months, requiring 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Compensation is competitive, between £30,800 - £35,000 per annum, pro rata, depending on experience.
The role offers a mix of remote and onsite working, subject to change based on business needs.
The Assistant Technical Project Leader will manage formulation, specification, and packaging activities within deodorants innovation projects. The role supports the delivery of these projects to market, ensuring global and local solutions are efficiently integrated into European supply chains and delivered to customers.
This role focuses on supporting innovation project managers with large, high/medium risk projects. Responsibilities include coordinating formulation work, implementing formulation changes across a brand portfolio, and supporting packaging solutions with the packaging team.
Key Accountabilities
* Support the Manager/Technical Project Leader in project management across multiple projects. Deputize for them when needed. Ensure regions/countries receive adequate support and communication.
* Manage innovation projects as a global/regional TPL for small/low risk projects.
* Contribute to technical documentation, including toolboxes (TTDs/PETs), gathering input from cross-functional and regional teams. Highlight project risks and update stakeholders. Input formulation data into decision documents.
* Prepare documentation for laboratory technicians, such as batch sheets and results templates. Check and sign off gas sheets when trained. Coordinate tasks where appropriate.
* Serve as formulation contact for projects, providing information to functions/regions/countries. Use creative problem solving for formulation and project issues.
* Ensure packaging compatibility with formulation and customer requirements, meeting regulatory, sustainability, and legislative standards.
* Manage packaging activities from primary to palletization, collaborating with internal and external partners.
* Complete code summaries to enable ordering of materials and accurate Bill of Materials.
Key Requirements
* FMCG experience preferred.
* Graduate caliber preferred, but GCSE Math, English, Sciences, or Engineering are minimum requirements.
* Experience in science/lab work and formulation development is beneficial.
* Experience in project management and claims development is beneficial.
* Packaging development experience in FMCG is advantageous.
