As a Mechanical Maintenance Engineering Technician, you will join a strong maintenance team within a manufacturing facility of a global organization. Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor and working closely with an electrical technician, your role will involve providing maintenance services to ensure maximum plant uptime.
This role includes planned preventative maintenance, inspections, corrective maintenance, and continuous improvement projects. You should demonstrate competence in welding and fabrication, pneumatic & hydraulic control systems, conveyor systems, screw feeders, and automated process control, with a good aptitude for fault finding and rectification.
You will work both independently and as part of a team, assisting across functions as needed, including occasional support for electrical maintenance, always prioritizing safety and sustainability.
Key Responsibilities
1. Monitor plant performance to predict and prevent breakdowns, reporting issues proactively.
2. Maintain all plant equipment according to the maintenance schedule.
3. Participate in new plant installations and modifications from design to commissioning.
4. Collaborate with management to optimize plant operation.
5. Complete safety checks, log maintenance activities, and implement remedial actions.
6. Participate in an on-call rota for emergency support.
7. Keep tools and equipment in good condition and maintain a clean work environment.
8. Adhere to Health, Safety & Environmental policies.
Qualifications and Skills
* Background in Mechanical Engineering or maintenance, e.g., HNC/HND with Mechanical bias; electrical experience is a plus.
* Experience with plant site mechanical maintenance, preferably in manufacturing sectors like materials, chemical, pharma, FMCG, or construction.
* Proficiency in maintaining conveyors, screw feeders, and automated control systems.
* Pro-active approach to health and safety, with high process safety standards.
* Certified to 3268 welding/fabrication skills or equivalent.
* Certified competence in pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
* Knowledge of relevant health and safety legislation.
Compensation and Benefits
Competitive salary including base + bonus, pension, life assurance, store discounts. The role is based on a 44-hour week, five days a week, with overtime paid and occasional on-call duties outside standard hours.
