DRAINAGE ENGINEER
Birmingham – Hybrid working available
Salary: £38,000 to £52,000 plus benefits
New year, new job. Are you a Drainage Engineer looking to work in a technically strong team where your ideas and contribution genuinely influence project outcomes? This is an excellent opportunity to join a specialist water consultancy offering flexibility, progression and exposure to varied drainage and flood risk schemes.
You will be based in the Birmingham office, working closely with a regional water team while supporting projects across the Midlands and wider UK. The role covers surface water, foul water, hydraulic modelling and sustainable drainage, supporting both public and private sector clients wherever their developments are located, while remaining anchored to a flexible hybrid working arrangement.
The role
As a Drainage Engineer, you will contribute to projects from concept through to detailed design and delivery.
* Delivering drainage designs including SuDS and foul and surface water systems
* Applying hydraulic and hydrological principles to develop robust solutions
* Interpreting surveys, drawings and modelling outputs
* Ensuring compliance with planning policy, legislation and industry guidance
* Liaising with clients, local authorities, the Environment Agency and LLFAs
* Preparing technical reports, design risk assessments and CDM support
* Mentoring junior engineers and sharing technical expertise
About you
This role suits a capable Drainage Engineer ready to progress.
* A degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Science or similar
* At least 3 years' experience in drainage or flood risk engineering
* Experience using Causeway Flow, AutoCAD, GIS and FEH methods
* Knowledge of SuDS, green and blue infrastructure and nature-based solutions
* Strong organisation, communication and report-writing skills
