This plumbing role is based at Kendray hospital in Barnsley but covers other health centres in the Barnsley area that sits under the trust footprint.
The role is maintaining all aspects of the mechanical systems both internally and externally on the buildings.
The work is varied and changes on a day to day basis in line with service needs, requirements and prioritisation of works.
Estates trust vehicles are utilised for traveling around the footprint of the trust and the successful candidates skillset may at times need to be used on the Wakefield properties which includes Fieldhead hospital which has over fifteen in patient mental health units and Cheswold Hospital which is a medium to low secure unit based in Doncaster.
This is an exciting role for the right candidate that likes a challenge in a very demanding environment.

Main duties of the job
To carry out routine mechanical maintenance of Trust properties
Be able to be fully conversant with various types of mechanical system e.g.
Hot and cold water systems
Central Heating/underfloor heating
HVAC
Water Hygiene practices to the HTM 04
The post holder will be expected to keep up all relevant training both trade specific and mandatory NHS.
The postholder will manage his/her own workload and liaise with departmental managers for access to ward and patient areas.
To ensure mechanical stock levels are maintained and order stock and parts as required.
To ensure the quality of work is of a high standard at all times.
Required to carry out work in accordance with working at heights and permit to work system on various functions in various conditions i.e. confined spaces, boiler houses, plant rooms, stair wells etc.
Participate in an on call Rota.

Job responsibilities
Job Summary
The postholder will be the Specialist lead in his area of expertise and will be responsible for the Installation, maintenance, servicing and repairs of all equipment and properties belonging to the Trust or for other organisations as directed.
They will ensure compliance of all safety standards and procedures for both in house and contracting staff by ensuring training and technical support is provided. They will be responsible for ensuring the Trust is maintained as required by statutory and Government Guidelines i.e. HTMs, HBNs etc.
KEY RESULT AREAS:
1.1Care/service/function provision:
* Understand the complete working of the plumbing/electrical, mechanical and building services throughout the Trust.
* Service. Test, diagnose, repair and calibrate advanced mechanical and electrical installations, plant and equipment, deal with new situations as they arise and pass on knowledge to others.
* Assemble install and commission new work.
* Use all relevant tools and equipment.
* To carry out safe isolation of gas pipe work as required by ACOP in accordance with Gas safe Regulations.
* To carry out work to HTM 04-01, ACOP L8 and HSG274 works relating to legionella ensuring all tests and monitoring is carried out as specified in the guidance.
* To carry out ventilation inspection and testing in line with HTM 03-01.
* To carry out ,witness all chlorination works on potable water systems.
* To methodically log all results and ensure work repair requirements are raised relating to any tolerances out of the manufacturers specification.
* To ensure all repairs are carried out as a priority.
* To liaise with contractors carrying out relevant works in line with guidance HTM 04-01 &HTM 03-01.
* Implement new work and keep within agreed budget and time allocation
* To work from ladders, to erect and work from scaffold (once trained) and safe use of safety harness.
* The postholder will be required to carry out work on waste systems, fall pipes and land drains both in replacement and unblocking as required.
* Driving hospital vehicles and plant as required (not H.G.V.).
* The postholder will be expected to participate in The out of hours on call rota which involves multi skilling across all trades, bringing you into contact with sewage and other bodily fluids (for which protective equipment must be worn).
* The postholder will on occasions be required to work overtime/change working hours if the need of service dictates
1.2 Working As Part Of a Team:
* Liaise with specialist contractors or suppliers regarding the provision of technical advice or the ordering of spare parts.
* Provide costings for new work, obtain authority from budget holder
* To ensure all paper work is completed and recorded as required by the Estates Co-ordinator
* The department operates a cross over of duties and as such the job holder would be expected to carry out other trades work, which is within his skill level. He/she would be expected to gradually increase his knowledge and capabilities in other trades to progressively and successfully take on complex work of a multi trade nature.
* The Post holder will be expected to work at any properties throughout the Trust as instructed by the Estates Co-ordinator

* Problem solve technical issues which arise during the course of your duties
* Learn new techniques/technologies with training as necessary
