About the role
We are currently recruiting for an Assistant Manager within our Wastewater function. You will be primarily responsible and accountable for the completion of updating Southern Water’s internal systems and tracking of works, training records, hazards and store audits, attending compliance meetings with other departments, inputting pollution reports to ensure our asset maintenance standards are maintained effectively.
What you will be responsible for:
You will be managing the team in the absence of the Field Performance Managers as you will deputise for leave and delegated requirements, meeting performance continuity for an operational area and role succession. Working closely within our internal teams, you will be liaising with our technical planning and scheduling team and using your expertise to plan in complex works safely and resolve long-standing and reactive issues, planning activities to deliver repairs, inspections and maintenance on treatment works and the networks.
As a developing leader, you will work with the team to support high standards of employee engagement and consultation with internal stakeholders. Proactively monitoring and escalating on performance shortfalls and implementing strategic improvement initiatives through advice and coaching is essential for this role.
•To keep an overview of performance against ISO14001 and ISO9001 standards within an operational area to ensure compliance
•Assesses and Evaluates Risks to Health, Safety, Security, Wellbeing, and Environmental Management conditions within an operational area
•Responsible for the completion of statutory Health, Safety and Environmental audits, (including SSI, EMS)
•Management and ownership to completion of all identified Hazards within an operational area, and administration of Hazard Database
•Responsible for mitigating and progressing to solution HSSW Hazards identified
•Ensuring specific issues identified by the team are reported to the FPM at required priority as per escalation guidelines
•Assisting the team to meet performance targets through coaching and mentoring
What you’ll bring to the role:
A curious individual with passion to develop into team management, you will have a good understanding of electrical and mechanical trades within a regulated environment such as Regulatory and Legal Environmental policy, waste management licensing, and the Health & Safety at Work act.
It will be highly desirable for you to have a background working within Wastewater treatment however we welcome applicant who has strong operational background, with clear track record of delivering to health, safety, and environmental targets.
