About Us

King’s College London is an internationally renowned university delivering exceptional education and world-leading research. We are dedicated to driving positive and sustainable change in society and realising our vision of making the world a better place.

At GKT School of Medical Education, we train the medical leaders of tomorrow. Our medicine curriculum is ground-breaking in design and fully integrated. Blending biomedical sciences, population sciences and clinical practice, it provides early authentic clinical experiences to truly bring medicine to life. GKT shapes its graduates to be doctors who are compassionate, critical thinkers, making a positive difference across society.

About The Role

The overarching aim of Clinical Communication (CC) is to equip students with a range of skills and knowledge and to help prepare them for developing as a medical professional. This is achieved through campus-based sessions throughout the medical degree programme and working in conjunction with sites across primary, secondary and mental health care settings.

The Teaching Fellows in Clinical Communication are required to contribute to the delivery of teaching across the three stages of the programme, primarily clinical communication but this may involve delivery of other Values Based Clinical Practice subjects such as Cultural Competence or Medical Humanities.

They will teach and assist with the organisation of workshops and experiential sessions for Clinical Communication and other related sessions. They will be expected to contribute to the development of new teaching and assessment materials, and to assist with marking of Values Based Clinical Practice assessments such as coursework. They will communicate with students as required regarding learning and teaching; and ensure that student support is provided and signposted to, as appropriate, in line with existing GKT structures. They will also act as a personal tutor, providing pastoral support for tutees.

Working with the lead for Clinical Communication, they will review the quality of student experience as measured by informal feedback, formal evaluation, and other evaluation data as relevant (such as the reports of trust monitoring visits for clinically based modules); and work to enhance the quality of clinical communication teaching. This involves helping to foster a culture of educational excellence amongst the team, referring to good practice and encouraging educational enquiry and a scholarly approach where possible.

This will be done with guidance and support from the Lead for Clinical communication.

This is a part time post (2 days/16 Hours per week), and you will be offered an indefinite contract.
