About The Role
Join Balfour Beatty Asset & Technology Solutions as a Plant Fitter, working with some of the latest technology in the refurbishment and construction of overhead line (OHL) infrastructure. Based primarily at our large plant workshop in Raynesway, Derby, you'll play a key role in ensuring our OHL large plant and specialist equipment is serviced, maintained, and repaired to the highest standards.
While the role is mainly workshop-based, occasional support at operational sites across the UK will be required. You'll be part of a team dedicated to delivering equipment to clients on time and maintaining a clean, efficient workspace.
What you'll be doing
Your Accountabilities Will Be As Follows
Service, maintain, and repair specialist overhead line large plant and equipment in line with legislation, manufacturer requirements, and agreed service intervals.
Carry out both planned and reactive maintenance across a variety of plant and equipment.
Work as part of a team, supporting others in maintenance tasks and following instructions from the Team Leader or site project team.
Ensure all work activities comply with safety rules, health and safety legislation, and environmental standards.
Complete all documentation and electronic records accurately and promptly.
Manage spare parts usage, booking out and requesting as needed.
Load and unload vehicles as required.
Undertake relevant training and occasional site work throughout the UK.
Deliver excellent customer service, including breakdown response in line with agreed SLAs.
Maintain a proactive approach to tidiness and communal workshop duties.
Who we're looking for
Essential
Relevant mechanical/electrical qualification.
Experience servicing and maintaining large diesel-driven plant, including hydraulics and electrical systems.
Ability to carry out fault finding and diagnostics on large diesel-driven plant, hydraulic, and electrical systems.
Knowledge of Health and Safety requirements in the workplace.
Full UK driving licence.
Experience working in an operational environment.
Strong teamwork and customer-facing skills.
Effective verbal and written communication.
Flexible approach to working hours and activities, with occasional site work.
Computer literate, able to use Microsoft Office.
Desirable
Experience maintaining specialist equipment used in the overhead line industry.
Valid MIG/MMA welding qualification.
Valid forklift and telehandler operator's certificate.
Safety qualification (e.g., IOSH) or willingness to work towards one.
