Classroom Assistant – Mainstream Primary School – Weymouth, Dorset

GSL Education are seeking a dedicated Classroom Assistant to join a mainstream primary school in Weymouth, Dorset on a full-time, permanent basis starting in September 2025.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working closely with children, assisting in lessons, and contributing to their academic and personal growth. You will work alongside class teachers to provide targeted support to individuals and small groups, ensuring every pupil has the opportunity to succeed.
Your Responsibilities as a Classroom Assistant:
* Assist the class teacher in delivering engaging lessons and activities
* Provide one-to-one or small group support to pupils as required
* Help manage classroom behaviour and maintain a positive learning environment
* Support pupils’ social, emotional, and academic development
* Prepare learning materials and resources as directed by the teacher
* Supervise pupils during non-classroom times, such as break and lunch
* Maintain accurate records of pupil progress and provide feedback to teachers
* Uphold school policies and safeguarding procedures at all times
Classroom Assistant Requirements:
* Experience working with children, ideally within a school setting
* CACHE Level 2/3 or NVQ Level 2/3 in Teaching Assistant or Childcare
* A degree in Education, Psychology or a similar field.
* A patient, caring, and adaptable approach
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills
* Ability to work effectively as part of a team
* Commitment to safeguarding and inclusive education
* Have an up-to-date CV (covering the last ten years, barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one)
