Materials Buyer - High-End Residential Construction
Join a prestigious North London-based builder delivering exceptional residential projects ranging from £1M to £10M. With a reputation for craftsmanship, precision, and quality, they are now expanding their commercial team and seeking a proactive Materials Buyer to play a key role in the delivery of some of the capital's most desirable homes.
The Role
As Materials Buyer, you'll be an integral part of the commercial team-working closely with Estimators, Quantity Surveyors, and Site Managers to ensure the timely and cost-effective procurement of high-quality materials. Your work will directly impact project timelines and budgets, helping to maintain the company's impeccable standard of delivery.
Key Responsibilities
* Source and procure materials in line with project requirements and budgets
* Develop and maintain strong supplier relationships
* Monitor and manage material lead times to ensure site teams receive supplies on schedule
* Negotiate pricing and terms with suppliers to ensure best value
* Raise and manage purchase orders and track deliveries
* Work collaboratively with site teams to understand upcoming needs and resolve supply issues swiftly
* Maintain material schedules and assist in cost reporting
* Identify potential cost savings without compromising quality
What You'll Need
* A minimum of 3 years' experience in a materials buying role, ideally in the high-end residential sector
* Strong understanding of UK construction supply chains and building materials
* A stable and consistent employment history within the UK construction industry
* Excellent negotiation and communication skills
* Highly organised with an eye for detail and a proactive attitude
