Job Description
We are seeking Sports Specialist Teaching Assistants to support primary schools across Southport. This role is designed for individuals who enjoy working with children and want to play a key part in their overall learning and development. Although the title references sport, this is not a pure coaching position. The majority of the role involves Teaching Assistant duties, supporting pupils in the classroom and helping teachers deliver lessons effectively.
Responsibilities
* Assisting teachers with daily classroom tasks and lesson delivery
* Supporting pupils during learning activities, group work, and interventions
* Leading short physical activity sessions when required
* Encouraging positive behaviour, engagement, and confidence
* Helping pupils who may need additional one‑to‑one or small‑group support
Requirements
* Experience or interest in sport, coaching, or education
* Confident working with primary school children across a range of subjects
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills
* Professional, reliable, and adaptable approach
* Enthusiasm for supporting children’s learning and wellbeing

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
