Interim Tenancy Relations Adviser

Rate: £45 per hour
Contract: Initial 6-month contract (strong likelihood of extension)

The Role
This interim opportunity will play a vital role in ensuring landlords comply with the Renters' Rights Act 2025 and broader housing legislation. You will be instrumental in protecting tenants from unfair practices such as unlawful eviction and poor housing conditions, helping to ensure residents can live safely and securely within the private rented sector.
You will manage a diverse caseload, handling tenant complaints, carrying out property inspections, and providing clear guidance and support to those facing housing issues. The role also involves advocacy and casework, ensuring tenants understand their rights and are supported through complex situations.
Working closely with landlords and letting agents, you will address non-compliance and take enforcement action where appropriate, in line with council policies and procedures. A key focus will be supporting the implementation and compliance of new requirements under the Renters' Rights Act 2025.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
Strong knowledge of private sector housing legislation, particularly tenancy relations
Experience of inspecting residential properties and enforcing housing standards
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
The ability to negotiate effectively and manage challenging situations professionally
A thorough, investigative approach with strong analytical skills
Good time management and the ability to handle a busy caseload
Strong IT skills, with experience maintaining accurate case records and producing reports
