Consultant Psychiatrist (General Adult) - New Residential Mental Health Service Location: Melton Mowbray, Leicestershire Contract Type: Permanent, Part-time (2 days per week) Start Date: December 2025 / January 2026 Salary: Competitive - dependent on experience Overview We are supporting one of the UK's leading independent mental health providers with the launch of a brand-new, 26-bed, nurse-led residential service opening in Melton Mowbray, Leicestershire in January 2026. This purpose-built service will offer recovery-focused care to adults with enduring mental health conditions who no longer require hospital-level treatment. The model promotes independence, stability, and person-centred outcomes within a structured, therapeutic environment. An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Consultant Psychiatrist (General Adult) to join the service on a permanent, part-time basis (2 days per week). You will provide psychiatric leadership, clinical oversight, and expert input across the multidisciplinary team as the service establishes itself and grows. Key Responsibilities Provide expert psychiatric assessment, diagnosis, and treatment for adults with complex or enduring mental health conditions. Offer clinical leadership and guidance to the multi-disciplinary team, ensuring high standards of safe and effective care. Attend and lead ward rounds, clinical meetings, and CPA reviews. Work collaboratively with nursing staff, psychologists, occupational therapists, and senior management to support service delivery and quality assurance. Liaise with community teams, commissioners, and external agencies to ensure seamless continuity of care and effective discharge planning. Support and supervise junior medical and nursing staff, promoting continuous learning and professional development. Contribute to clinical governance, quality improvement projects, and service evaluation. Ensure all practice adheres to statutory legislation, GMC standards, and relevant mental health frameworks. Requirements Full GMC registration with a licence to practise. CCT in General Adult Psychiatry (or equivalent). Section 12 (2) approval under the Mental Health Act (desirable). Demonstrated experience in inpatient, step-down, or rehabilitation mental health settings. Strong clinical decision-making, leadership, and communication skills.
