Band 2 Pharmacy Assistant

Join our diverse pharmacy team at Solihull Hospital and help deliver patient‑focused pharmacy services.
Responsibilities
* Assist in the delivery of pharmaceutical care to patients within the Trust by providing a safe and efficient pharmacy service.
* Provide a comprehensive reception service, greeting service users and taking in work confidently and accurately.
* Maintain medicines stock and distribute to wards and satellite pharmacies.
* Interpret and accurately dispense prescriptions and requests for medication.
* Participate in stock supply to wards and departments and re‑order as necessary.
* Receive goods into the department, unpack, check and put away deliveries against relevant paperwork.
* Act as front of house on reception, greeting customers and receiving in‑work.
* Participate in the induction and training of staff.
* Participate in extended hours, including weekend working, bank holidays and late nights on a rotational basis.
Qualifications and Experience
* Educated to secondary school standard.
* GCSEs C/4 or above (or equivalent) in Mathematics and English.
* Willing to work towards an NVQ Level 2 Certificate in Pharmacy Service Skills (QCF) and BTEC Level 2 Certificate in Pharmaceutical Science.
* Accredited Dispensing Assistants course.
* Previous experience in warehouse, stores, reception duties or a pharmacy setting.
* Experience working within a team environment and customer relations.
* Understanding of Health and Safety at Work, manual handling and COSHH.
* Understanding of dispensing, stock control and supply systems and processes.
* Knowledge of hospital and pharmacy environments.
* Understanding of pharmacy‑related computer systems.

* Ability to work effectively independently and with the existing team.
* Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records.
* Demonstrates discretion, diplomacy, and confidentiality.
* Good time‑management, flexible to work in accordance with service needs and able to lift moderate weights (up to 15 kg).
* Reliable, punctual and able to adapt to change.
* Ability to travel to all UHB sites and work under close supervision.
