Our client is an IT Managed Services provider supporting the Education sector. The role is based at a reputable private school in Farnborough.
IT Support Technician - What will you be doing day-to-day?
You will deliver first-class IT support services to staff and pupils at the college. Tasks include maintaining IT systems such as servers, network and Wi-Fi, end-user devices, and cloud-hosted systems. You will be a key member of the onsite IT team, collaborating closely with colleagues and relevant staff.
IT Support Technician - Overview:
You will be responsible for the IT infrastructure and helpdesk services, ensuring the college's IT systems are safe, reliable, and scalable to support academic, pastoral, and administrative functions. A broad range of technical skills and experience, preferably within education, is required.
* Maintain the college's IT network under the guidance of the Senior IT Engineer, troubleshooting issues and implementing solutions.
* Resolve support tickets promptly, prioritizing in-person support.
* Collaborate with third-party vendors as needed.
* Install, configure, and maintain devices including desktops, laptops, tablets, printers, and touchscreens.
* Manage and administer Microsoft services such as Azure Active Directory, Office 365, and Exchange Online.
* Coordinate with vendors for supplies and equipment.
* Assist in resolving issues with student devices during peak periods.
* Update the IT asset register and documentation for all systems.
* Perform routine maintenance on classroom IT equipment to ensure smooth teaching and learning.
* Monitor IT systems for viruses, malfunctions, and errors, reporting issues promptly.
* Work with the safeguarding team to ensure all systems are safe for pupils, preventing access to harmful content.
Skills & Experience:
* At least 1 year experience in network and systems maintenance.
* Knowledge of Microsoft operating systems and applications.
* Experience with Microsoft systems administration (Windows Server, 365, Azure).
Desirable Skills:
* Mobile Device Management (Intune, Apple JAMF).
* Experience with cloud services (e.g., SaaS).
* Knowledge of VMWare ESXi, vSphere, and vCenter.
* Apple hardware and software experience (macOS, iOS).
* Relevant IT certifications.
* Understanding of Web & E-mail Security related to child safeguarding.
