About the Role
We are currently seeking a Care Experienced Coordinator to join our Student Services department at The Bedford College Group.
As a Care Experienced Coordinator, you play an important role in the success of our students through:
* Cross‑Departmental Collaboration – Work with curriculum heads, safeguarding teams, and learning mentors to promote positive outcomes and ensure tailored support for Looked‑after Children and Care Leavers.
* Monitoring & Intervention – Track achievement, attendance, and retention; implement interventions when attendance drops below 90%, and escalates concerns as needed.
* PEP Oversight & Quality Assurance – Attend and support Personal Education Plan (PEP) meetings, provide training, monitor quality, and ensure high standards in documentation and staff participation.
* Student Support & Transition – Offer pastoral, welfare, and financial guidance; support transitions from school to college; and ensure access to bursaries, careers advice, and 1‑to‑1 mentoring.
* Statutory & Strategic Duties – Uphold safeguarding, EDI, and health and safety policies; contribute to the Care Leaver Covenant; collect service data; and represent the college at internal and external events.
About You
* Education & Qualifications – Holds a good general education including GCSEs in Maths and English (Grade A–C or Level 2 equivalent), plus a Level 3 qualification such as A‑Levels.
* Experience & Knowledge – Demonstrates experience working with children, young people, and families in education or social care, with strong understanding of Looked‑after child processes and relevant policies like safeguarding and equality.
* Skills & Competencies – Proven ability in ICT and Microsoft Office, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, strong organisational and planning abilities, and capable of working independently and within multi‑disciplinary teams.
* Student‑Centred Approach – Shows empathy and awareness of student needs, supports inclusive learning environments, and consistently contributes to high‑quality student experiences and outcomes.
* Professionalism & Flexibility – Maintains a professional image, promotes the college’s reputation, adapts to varied working hours and locations, and engages confidently across diverse cultural groups.
