Job Description

This is an exciting opportunity to provide leadership to the Hazardous Waste team in managing day-to-day activities of the regime. This work supports regulatory reform efforts and will help transition the regime from reform to ‘business as usual’.
The role duties and responsibilities include:
* Providing technical leadership in waste classification
* Leading Hazardous Waste compliance and initiatives to improve it
* Enhancing leadership of priority waste streams
* Offering technical support focusing on priority waste streams, driven by area and national teams
* Addressing regulatory challenges, improving the regulatory regime, and supporting Defra’s circular economy work on Hazardous Waste
* Focusing on enforcement to support actions in the control strategy aimed at reducing offending
The team
The Environment & Business (E&B) Hazardous Waste team is a small, high-performing unit within the Regime Regulation team, supporting government, industry, and colleagues to ensure hazardous waste is properly managed.

The role is based in an EA Office location with flexible/hybrid working arrangements. Some travel and overnight stays may be required.
