We are seeking a patient, supportive, and experienced ARP (Additional Resource Provision) Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in Waltham Forest, starting as soon as possible. This is a rewarding role for someone who is passionate about supporting pupils with additional needs and helping them succeed academically, socially, and emotionally.
The school has a strong inclusive ethos and a dedicated ARP provision, supporting pupils with a range of additional needs including autism (ASC), social, emotional, and mental health needs (SEMH), and learning difficulties. The ARP team works closely with the SENCO, class teachers, and families to ensure personalised support for each pupil.
As an ARP Teaching Assistant, you will work with pupils in the ARP base, providing targeted support to meet their individual needs. You will help pupils access learning, develop social and communication skills, and participate successfully in school life.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide tailored support to pupils in the ARP base
* Work 1:1 or in small groups according to individual needs
* Support pupils’ learning across literacy, numeracy, and the wider curriculum
* Implement strategies from EHCPs, behaviour plans, and support programmes
* Encourage positive behaviour, independence, and engagement in learning
* Support pupils’ social and emotional development
* Work closely with the ARP team, SENCO, and class teachers
* Monitor and record progress, providing feedback to teaching staff
* Support transitions between ARP base, classroom, and playground
* Follow safeguarding, behaviour, and inclusion policies at all times

* Be committed to safeguarding and pupil wellbeing
Experience in an ARP setting or with structured intervention programmes is highly desirable. Training and support will be provided for the right candidate.
