Job Description: QA Team Leader ABOUT US Jonas Metal Software (JMS) is a multinational organisation providing software and services to the metal industry worldwide. Our core product (the iMetal ERP) is implemented in hundreds of sites, with several thousand users in total. The product has been developed to meet the specific needs of metal stockholders and processors, and offers full ERP functionality including CRM, Sales, Purchasing, Inventory Control, Production Planning and Processing, Material Optimisation, Transport Planning, Despatch, Invoicing and much more. It can operate in physical, cloud or hybrid environments. Access to the system is primarily via desktop applications, but handheld/mobile functions are also available. An expanding API allows third parties to develop further ancillary tools such as web portals, software integration, etc. JMS services include business process reviews, full implementation and training, application and technical support, business intelligence, reporting, etc. The company has a history in designing, developing and implementing metal software solutions going back to the 1980's, with strong staff retention and a friendly culture. JMS has been a virtual business for over fifteen years, so all staff are expected to work from home and have a quiet and comfortable space in which to do so. WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING The successful candidate will become the QA Team Lead responsible for ensuring the quality of new releases, enhancements and bug fixes in all JMS products. A key responsibility will be to manage the development and maintenance of a suite of automated tests, whilst also creating test plans and performing manual testing. As team lead, the candidate would be responsible for both dedicated QA staff and the requisition and planning of QA resources in the wider JMS team. ROLE RESPONSIBILTILES Key Responsibilities: Formalise the company's testing processes and procedures Development/enhancement of test plans Implement and maintain a repository of test plans Manual testing of new developments and bug fixes Flow testing of new releases Convey results of testing clearly and precisely Create Release Note descriptions following successful final tests Work within an agile development process using Jira Manage testing tasks and resources: Make sure testing is done on time, pulling in other resources if necessary Assisting and mentoring direct reports Liaise with other testing resources within the company to coordinate both application and flow testing and ensure best practices Develop and maintain periodic quality reports Build excellent working relationships with the development team and other QA staff Investigate and advise on best automated testing solution(s) Explore most appropriate technologies Create proposal Implement agreed automated testing system(s) Development of new tests Maintenance of existing tests as the system changes Reporting of issues that are found in automated tests and creating hotlines for getting them fixed. Key Skills & Experience: Previous software testing experience Experience of automated testing systems With experience of scripting/development of automated test verification Automated testing of client or server applications Knowledge of the software lifecycle specifically those areas relating to Testing Ability to create test plans and maintain a test repository Experience of ERP type systems or business systems with Stock, Sales, Purchasing, Production, Transport, Invoicing, etc Previous experience of managing a QA team Working knowledge of SQL Full clean driving licence Ability to attend meetings and training sessions in various locations around the country is essential. Other desirable but not essential experience: Experience using Jira ISTQB Foundation Certificate or higher Automated testing of Java Swing applications Automated testing of web applications Knowledge of the Windows operating system and familiarity with PC hardware and architecture Knowledge of the Linux operating system Working knowledge of Google Docs and/or Microsoft Office suite Knowledge of the metal stockholding and/or processing industry.
