Stone Town Council is looking for an enthusiastic and experienced person to join our small, dedicated Council team as an Assistant Town Clerk. The main duties of the role will be to act as secretary to the Town Mayor, and to be responsible for organising, attending, and minuting meetings of the Council and its various committees and sub-committees.
The role would suit a candidate with previous experience of undertaking some or all of these duties, though training will be given. Candidates will also need to be proficient in the use of IT, particularly Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook, and will be expected to have or be willing to work towards completion of the Certificate in Local Council Administration (CiLCA).
This is a varied and interesting role within a small, friendly and supportive team which will involve significant interaction with members of the public and Councillors. The successful candidate will need to be a confident and credible communicator, with a working knowledge and understanding of local government.
Further details, including the job description, person specification, and how to apply are available on the Town Council’s website at https://www.stonetowncouncil.gov.uk.
Please contact the Town Clerk, Les Trigg, on 01785 619740 if you wish to discuss the post.
The closing date for applications is Monday 4th May 2026, and it is expected that interviews will be held during the week commencing 18th May 2026.
