Main duties of the job To work under the indirect supervision of Physiotherapists in providing a high standard physiotherapy service on the Orthopaedic Wards, Day Surgery and pre-operation department. After a period of training to work with a specified caseload, with no direct supervision of a Physiotherapist. To participate in continued personal development and other departmental activities. After a period of time in post to deliver specific training to physiotherapy assistants and new technicians and assist the physiotherapist in training other non-qualified health care staff on the Orthopaedic unit. Frimley Health Trust benefits on Vimeo Detailed Job Description And Main Responsibilities After a period of training to be responsible unsupervised for implementing the standards and policies relevant to the speciality working within codes of practice and professional guidelines. Within specific guidelines and following training to be solely responsible and accountable for a clinical case load working within codes of practice and professional guidelines. This includes patient documentation in both professional and medical notes and monthly statistical work sheets. After a period of training to be solely responsible for the primary assessment of pre and post-operative patients according to the guidelines on both the orthopaedic and day surgery unit. After a period of training the clinical role may include: Provision of walking aids and instruct patients in their use, Checking the condition of walking aids/other equipment, Identifying the need for and fitting cricket pad splints and ROM braces. Provision and progression of an appropriate treatment plan to include exercises and mobility aids Fitting of orthotics once provided by a Physiotherapist Teaching and supervision of exercises, Checking patients ability to manage stairs prior to discharge, Applying cryotherapy Set up continuous passive motion (CPM) machine and instruct patient in the use. After receiving instruction from the physiotherapist, to teach and supervise exercises and mobility on those patients who required initial assessment by the qualified physiotherapist.
