Compliance Technician Facilities & Estates Maintenance Location: Rutland Salary: £27,000 per annum (depending on experience) Are you looking for your next step in facilities compliance and maintenance ? We are seeking a proactive Compliance Technician to join a busy estates team and play a key role in keeping buildings, facilities, and systems safe, compliant, and well maintained. The Role As a Compliance Technician, you will support the delivery of planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and compliance checks across a large and varied estate. This hands-on role covers everything from fire safety systems to water hygiene management, ensuring statutory compliance is achieved and recorded. Your main responsibilities will include: Emergency Lighting Testing, inspecting, and recording all emergency lighting to ensure safe exit routes during power failures. Fire Safety Systems Regular checks of fire alarms, fire extinguishers, smoke detectors, evacuation alarms, and door release mechanisms, escalating issues where needed. Smoke Ventilation Systems Routine inspection of smoke vents to ensure systems operate effectively in an emergency. Water Hygiene (Legionella Control) Carrying out water temperature monitoring, calorifier and heater checks, and regular flushing of outlets in line with water hygiene compliance. Ventilation & Air Systems Checking extract fans and ventilation equipment to support health, safety, and compliance standards. Minor Remedial Works Undertaking small fixes during compliance inspections to resolve issues quickly. Computer-Aided Facilities Management (CAFM) Using a CAFM system and tablet to log jobs, record inspection notes, and maintain compliance records. Team & Contractor Support Assisting maintenance colleagues and contractors on wider estates projects as required. Health & Safety Compliance Following risk assessments and safe systems of work to ensure a safe environment for staff, contractors, and building users. About You We are looking for someone with: Previous experience in facilities maintenance or working on a large, complex estate (schools, hospitals, universities or similar). Knowledge of planned preventative maintenance and statutory compliance (training will be provided where required). Good IT skills, with experience using a CAFM system preferred. Strong time management skills, with the ability to prioritise a varied workload. A detail-oriented and proactive approach to problem solving. A team player with a positive and flexible attitude.
