Specific Duties and Responsibilities of the post The Food & Beverage Manger will be responsible for all aspects of the food and beverage outlet across the University of Hull Campus.
To be successful the role will include delivery in the following areas:
Operational Management of the Food & Beverage Team overseeing daily operations, ensuring smooth and efficient service
Provide strong leadership of the Food & Beverage Team giving direction, support and training, fostering a positive and productive work environment.
Rota Management of the Food & Beverage Team across outlets and events ensuring pay expenditure is controlled and within budget.
Development and growth of the food & beverage outlets increasing footfall, engagement and income
Be the till and EPOS superuser providing local training and development for staff on the till and EPOS system resolving any technical issues and providing SOPs for day to day use and FAQs for issue resolution
Marketing and promotion through developing and implement marketing strategies and campaigns to promote the food and beverage offerings
Development of the outlet food offer and menus through work with the Executive Chef and Kitchen Team to design and update menus, ensuring a diverse and appealing selection.
Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, the Food Standards Agency and University of Hull policies and procedures.
Ensure exceptional customer service and brand standards are in place and maintained, providing clear and concise standard operating procedures (SOPs) with relevant Training programmes to support.
Managing outlet product inventory and stock, order supplies, and monitor stock levels to minimise waste and optimise margins.
Working with the Exec Chef & Food Services Manager to coordinate financial management of the Food & Beverage Team including monitoring pay and non-pay expenditure, tracking income and developing business insight.
Establish and maintain good, productive and mutually beneficial relationships with University Services, Faculties and other Service Department colleagues
Due to the nature of the role, it is expected that the role holder will work five out of seven days and have a flexible approach to working hours to provide event and venue services outside of normal working office hours in accordance with business needs.
The essential criteria of the role:
Evidence of substantial proven experience as a Food & Beverage Manager or similar role in the hospitality/food service industry.

Evidence of knowledge and experience of food and beverage operations including food hygiene standards and compliance.

Can demonstrate the ability to lead and supervise the work of others.

Can demonstrate the ability to use a broad range of products from the Microsoft Office suite and have the ability to learn new systems and software.

Has an HND in relevant area or equivalent qualification and/or experience.

Has an active approach to continuing professional development/undertaking training as appropriate for personal and professional development.

Can demonstrate the ability to provide information in a suitable format so that the others needs are met and adjusts the level of content to help others understand.

Can demonstrate the ability to provide operational leadership. Ensures that all team members understand what is expected of them and distributes work fairly according to ability. Identifies development and training needs of the team, monitors performance and gives feedback.

Can demonstrate the ability to make contact with others to ensure that information is exchanged and circulated appropriately to the right person at the right time.

Has knowledge and understanding of services available to users of this and related areas of work and ensures that the experience of each customer is positive and satisfactory.

Can demonstrate the ability to ensure that the work is carried out effectively and that resources are available to meet demand. Identifies the need for further action and resources by monitoring progress.

Can demonstrate the ability to use initiative to recognise problems and offer solutions.

Can demonstrate the ability to identify and use a range of data, with the ability to combine various data types to produce reports and perform basic analysis.
