An important part of the staff role is to support our service users who have complex needs and help them to manage their emotions.
So the ability to be resilient, to communicate effectively and to utilise a variety of communication tools is essential.
Our dedicated staff team supports our service users to learn and develop their independence skills, which includes tasks such as shopping, cleaning their flat, personal care, accessing the community, budgeting, and taking medication. Each staff member has something to bring to the role, and we encourage staff to use their humour, sense of fun, and creativity in supporting our service users with day-to-day life.
Where You Would Work: Forest Lodge, Portadown
Forest Lodge, Portadown, is a sociable scheme where residents enjoy going out in the community. Every day is different and tailored to individual needs and preferences. A typical day may involve accompanying residents to football matches or concerts, going on walks, playing special Olympic ten-pin bowling or golf, attending tech classes, or supervising family visits. Your role would also include providing assistance with personal care, cooking with residents, and helping them learn new skills. All work within the scheme aims to empower service users to become more independent.
Induction days and evening hours are required for a short period of 1 week to familiarize new staff with night duties before starting their role.
