MANUFACTURING ENGINEER - METALLICS - £45,000/£60,000 per annum - GREATER BLACKBURN - FAST START
We are seeking a skilled Manufacturing Engineer to drive the development, optimisation, and implementation of advanced manufacturing processes for aerospace materials and components. This role is pivotal in ensuring production is efficient, cost-effective, and meets the highest quality standards, with a strong focus on metallics and aerospace manufacturing requirements.
Key Responsibilities
* Develop, refine, and implement robust manufacturing processes aligned with engineering specifications, industry regulations, and customer requirements.
* Collaborate with design, engineering, and production teams to optimise metallics manufacturing techniques, including layup, curing, machining, and bonding.
* Design and validate tooling, fixtures, and equipment to support efficient, high-quality production.
* Conduct trials and validate new processes to ensure performance, cost, and quality objectives are achieved.
* Diagnose and resolve complex issues relating to materials, processes, and equipment.
* Lead continuous improvement initiatives to reduce waste, improve efficiency, and elevate product quality.
* Partner with quality assurance teams to ensure full compliance with AS9100, NADCAP, and other aerospace standards.
* Produce and maintain accurate documentation, including process specifications, work instructions, and quality control plans.
* Stay ahead of industry advancements in metallics and composites, incorporating innovative techniques into production.
* Provide technical guidance and training to production staff on best practices and new processes.
Requirements
* Degree in Engineering (or HNC with Advanced Apprenticeship to NVQ Level 3 in a relevant discipline).
* 3+ years' experience in metallics manufacturing, ideally within the aerospace sector.
* Strong understanding of composite materials (carbon fibre, fiberglass, advanced polymers).
* Proficiency in CAD software for tooling and fixture design.
* Hands-on experience with composite manufacturing processes such as hand layup, AFP, RTM, and autoclave curing.
* Knowledge of aerospace quality frameworks, including AS9100, NADCAP, and FAA regulations.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with proven troubleshooting ability.
* Excellent collaboration and communication skills across multidisciplinary teams.
* Ability to prioritise, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
