We are a small animal GP practice based in the market town Oswestry, in Shropshire near the Welsh border. We have a branch practice 20 minutes away near Wrexham. Park Issa is a memorable practice and we value the people who work here. We are a team that will support you clinically and personally. We recognise the importance of work–life balance and aim to maintain that by hiring and retaining staff. We use VetsNow OOH but have maintained in-patient care with a nurse onsite 24 hours.
The Practice
We pride ourselves on committed client and patient care and aim to provide the best service possible. We have two operating theatres, an imaging suite with modern ultrasound and x-ray machines, and a dental procedures room with dental x-ray. We have a large garden behind the practice often used for sunny lunch breaks or exercising inpatients. The vet team consists of two small animal clinical directors and five part-time vets. We have certificate holders in small animal medicine, surgery and ophthalmology.
We handle a broad caseload of medical and surgical cases and perform our own basic orthopaedics: lateral suture and MMP cruciate repair, patella luxation and simple fractures. We hold regular case discussions, and someone is always available for advice.
We are a social team and organise meals out, quiz nights, garden parties, escape rooms and more.
The Role
We are looking for a small animal vet to join our fabulous Park Issa team. The ideal candidate would have some experience and may be interested in taking on a senior vet role in the future to support the Clinical Director.
This part-time role is 18 hours per week, 8:30–6:30pm across two days. We can be flexible with working days. One of the days requires in-patient cover overnight if needed, involving being reachable by phone in case of emergency; an experienced, qualified nurse stays onsite with the in-patients. This is a very infrequent requirement.
The weekends are 1 in 8; hours are 8:30am–4pm on Saturday. We are closed on Bank Holidays but keep in-patients if they are already with us.
