Alliance Psychological Services Ltd is a leading local mental health provider delivering psychological support and emotional well‑being services in a range of settings. Our Children, Young People and Family Service provides support for children’s mental health on behalf of, and in partnership with, Northeast and North Cumbria Integrated Care Board (ICB), Tees Esk and Wear Valley NHS Foundations Trust (TEWV) and other local organisations, including the voluntary sector. Using the iThrive framework, we aim to improve mental health services and make them more accessible for children and young people in Tees Valley. Job Description
As an Informed Systemic Family Practitioner (SFP), you will work with children and young people experiencing mild to moderate mental health difficulties, supporting families to improve functioning and well‑being. The role involves assessment, risk assessment, outcome‑focused systemic interventions, referral management, and collaboration with a range of professionals.
* Provide assessment, including risk assessment, of children and young people with mild to moderate mental health difficulties.
* Support management of the waiting list, prioritising assessments and signposting.
* Deliver evidence‑based systemic interventions to families where children present with depression, self‑harm or conduct disorders.
* Use referral pathways following assessment for further support.
* Explore and evaluate clinical treatment using evaluation tools, contributing to evidence‑based practice.
* Collaborate with children, young people and families to develop treatment plans and agreed outcomes.
* Operate within the Service Referral to Discharge Protocols and manage escalation of complex cases.
* Adhere to an activity contract regarding the number of contacts and sessions per week, improving timely access.
* Maintain clinical notes and records on IAPTUS and undertake relevant continuing professional development.
* Make reasonable adjustments to interventions, e.g., adjusting language for CYP with autism or ADHD.
* Assist in developing resources for children and young people and take part in training delivery and guidance.
* Work within CYP IAPT principles, values, and standards, and use routine outcome monitoring tools.
* Receive and provide clinical supervision, case management, and personal development supervision.
* Be responsible for safeguarding children and promote their welfare, taking appropriate safeguarding action when required.
* Maintain professional registration annually and comply with national requirements.
* Collaborate with headteachers, SENCOs, pastoral teams, and other school staff, and liaise with local statutory and voluntary agencies.
* Represent the service at inter‑agency meetings and engage with social care professionals.
Qualifications & Experience
* Holds a recognised qualification through CYP IAPT (Diploma in Systemic Family Practitioner).
* Holds a Psychology or other health, social care, or youth‑related undergraduate degree.
* Holds a recognised membership of a relevant professional body (e.g., HCPC, BACP, BABCP, BAAT, UKCP, BPS, AFT).
* Experience working therapeutically with children and young people, and within a children’s mental health service.
* Experience with CBT approaches and willingness to support the implementation of the service model.
* Demonstrated ability to work with an agreed caseload, manage targets and performance measures.
* Understanding of child protection and safeguarding policies and procedures.
* Willingness to undertake clinical supervision and case management and to develop therapeutic relationships.
* Strong partnership working and effective relationship building with referrers and community agencies.
* Experience and knowledge of early help services and referral pathways (desirable).
* Post‑qualification experience as an SFP (desirable).

Contract, Salary and Working Pattern
* Salary: £31,000 to £37,000 a year, prorated to hours worked.
* Contract: Permanent.
* Working pattern: Full‑time with flexible working.
* Location: The Pavillion, 1 Belasis Court, Billingham, TS23 4AZ (requires travel across Teesside).
