Senior Commercial Broker Broker and negotiate complex, high-value commercial risks (£50k) with leading UK insurers / Lloyds Markets. Play a key role in NIS growth, supporting NFU Mutual’s expanding commercial ambitions. Hybrid role with 60% homeworking and 40% in Stratford-upon-Avon About the roleWe’re recruiting for a Senior Commercial Broker within our National Intermediary Services (NIS) division. This is a key role focused on the hands-on broking and placement of large, complex and multi-class commercial risks, typically £50,000 premium cases, supporting our Agency Network and wider NFU Mutual business. You’ll take ownership of allocated business from start to finish, managing the full renewal process with our direct insurers and Lloyds markets. Working closely with Agents and internal stakeholders, you’ll assess risk exposures and structure detailed market presentations that clearly articulate the risk and required cover. You’ll negotiate terms directly with insurers to secure competitive, appropriate solutions that meet customer needs while operating within agreed authority and compliance frameworks. This role sits at the heart of how NFU Mutual supports customers, where we don’t have the appetite to insure the entire risk ourselves. You’ll work across a broad spectrum of commercial lines, including property, liability, contractors, marine, engineering, fleet and motor trade, placing complex business into key markets where required. As our direct market relationships and delegated authority arrangements continue to grow, you’ll play an important role in shaping how we deliver fast, effective outcomes for customers. Alongside broking activity, you’ll act as a technical point of contact for colleagues and Agents, offering advice on cover structure, market approach and placement strategy. You’ll support client meetings where required and help raise technical capability within the team through coaching and mentoring. NIS is a fast-growing and ambitious part of NFU Mutual, supporting our 10 year growth strategy and expansion into new commercial sectors. Joining at this stage offers the opportunity to work on complex, high-value risks while contributing to a business area that is becoming increasingly central to our commercial proposition. This Senior Commercial Broker role is known internally as a Complex Commercial Account Lead. This role falls under Insurance Distribution Directive requirements, and as a result, role holders will be required to demonstrate ongoing Continuous Professional Development in role, along with undergoing regular re-screening to show that they are of “Good Repute”. Further information can be found in the FCA Handbook.About youYou’ll bring strong commercial insurance market expertise, with proven experience broking and negotiating complex cases. With in-depth knowledge of commercial lines, including property, liability, contractors, marine cargo, freight liability, engineering, fleet, and motor trade, you’ll be confident placing business into the market, providing technical advice to Agents, and operating within authority and compliance frameworks. Alongside your technical capability, you’ll be a collaborative and resilient professional who communicates clearly and influences effectively. You’ll demonstrate sound decision-making and prioritisation skills, take accountability for your cases, build strong stakeholder relationships and support others through coaching and mentoring, always keeping the customer at the heart of what you do.
