The role
As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. This opportunity will involve working as a Senior Mechanical Engineer as part of a JV team on the Nuclear Technical Support Provider (NTSP) framework. This seven-year framework, with the option of a further three years, will deliver specialist nuclear technical services valued between £-million to £-million to support DIO, Navy Command and other MOD organisations.
The framework will support the Clyde Infrastructure Programme (CIP) and wider Royal Navy and defence requirements. Its primary focus will be on delivering the refurbishment and upgrade of critical infrastructure at HMNB Clyde.
Day-to-day you’ll be leading design activities, producing technical documentation, overseeing CAD modelling, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards. You’ll also mentor junior engineers, contribute to project planning, and engage with clients and stakeholders to drive innovation and excellence in nuclear engineering.
Key accountabilities:
1. Foster strong collaboration across Engineering and cross-functional teams to ensure seamless project delivery.
2. Support effective customer engagement by building and maintaining relationships, resolving technical challenges, and keeping stakeholders informed of progress and developments.
3. Ensure all engineering and technical activities adhere to relevant procedures, codes, and industry standards.
4. Actively contribute to project safety assessments, promoting a culture of safety and compliance.
5. Lead the production, review, and approval of engineering deliverables including calculations, analyses, drawings, models, design documentation, and technical reports.
6. Maintain engineering configuration control, ensuring the design intent and integrity are preserved throughout the project lifecycle.
This role is full time, 37 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements with 2 days in the office/onsite and 3 days working from home.
Essential experience of the Senior Mechanical Engineer
7. Proven ability to work collaboratively within multi-disciplinary teams to deliver engineering solutions across a variety of project types.
8. Demonstrated experience in managing a diverse range of engineering tasks, from straightforward to highly complex challenges.
9. Strong communication skills with the ability to effectively interface with colleagues across disciplines, clients, and stakeholders.

10. Degree qualified, or equivalent qualification
