Sliding Head Machine Setter / Operator

Bespoke Career Solutions Ltd are recruiting for an experienced Sliding Head Machine Setter / Operator to join a precision engineering company, working with Star and Citizen machines on Fanuc controls. This is a fantastic opportunity for a skilled machinist to secure a long-term night shift role with excellent pay and benefits.
The Role
As a Sliding Head Machine Setter / Operator you will be responsible for setting and operating CNC sliding head lathes to produce precision components to tight tolerances. Duties include machine setup, tool changes, offsets, first-off inspections, reading and interpreting engineering drawings, and ensuring consistent production quality throughout the shift. You will carry out in-process quality checks, make programme or tooling adjustments, and keep machines running efficiently with minimal downtime.
What We're Looking For
This role is best suited to candidates with previous experience working on Star or Citizen sliding head machines with Fanuc controls. Strong knowledge of CNC turning processes, tooling, and precision machining is essential. A background in aerospace, automotive, medical, or general precision engineering would be advantageous.

Duties
* Set up and operate various types of machinery, including milling machines and welding equipment.
* Utilise SolidWorks and CAD software for designing and modifying components as needed.
* Fabricate parts according to specifications, ensuring adherence to quality standards.
* Handle materials safely and efficiently throughout the production process.
* Maintain tooling and equipment in optimal condition through regular inspection and maintenance.
* Assist with assembly tasks, ensuring that all components fit together correctly.
* Collaborate with team members to troubleshoot issues and improve production processes.
* Follow health and safety regulations at all times to maintain a safe working environment.
Skills
* Proficient in fabrication techniques and processes.
* Experience with programmable logic controllers (PLCs) is advantageous.
* Strong knowledge of SolidWorks and CAD for design purposes.
* Familiarity with milling operations and techniques.
* Solid mechanical knowledge, with the ability to use hand tools effectively.
* Experience in materials handling within a warehouse setting is preferred.
* Competence in basic mathematics for measurements and calculations related to production tasks.
* Previous experience in assembly work is beneficial.
