Your Role Queen Elizabeth Sixth Form College’s popularity and success are built upon our commitment to provide students with the best possible learning experience and the highest standards of support and guidance. We are proud of our dedicated staff and vibrant student community, as evidenced by our recent Ofsted Inspection, which rated the College as Outstanding for Overall Effectiveness and in all other areas, with no recommendations for improvement. We are seeking an experienced, enthusiastic and student‑focused Library and Learning Resource Centre Manager to lead and develop our Library and Learning Resource Centre (LRC) as a dynamic hub for independent learning, academic research and digital literacy.

The role requires professional expertise, awareness of developments in library and digital resource management, and the ability to collaborate with curriculum, student support and academic colleagues. The successful candidate will contribute to improving student experience and outcomes through research‑informed practice, active curriculum partnership and innovation in resource provision, including AI‑enhanced learning tools. The expected start date is 10 August 2026.

Qualifications

A recognised qualification in library or information services or demonstrable equivalent experience in a library or learning resource environment (essential)

GCSE A* – C (9-4) in Mathematics and English Language or Literature (essential)

Degree or postgraduate qualification in Library and Information Studies (e.g. CILIP‑accredited) – desirable

Skills

Experience of working in a library, learning resource centre or similar information‑based environment (essential)

Ability to use data to monitor library usage and impact (essential)

Knowledge of copyright, data protection and responsible use of information (essential)

Good ICT skills, including online databases, e‑books and Microsoft applications (essential)

Experience of promoting reading, research skills or information literacy (essential)

Experience of using library management systems and digital resources (essential)

Experience of supporting students or young people in an educational setting (essential)

Familiarity with assistive technologies and inclusive learning resources (essential)

Understanding of safeguarding and professional boundaries when working with students (essential)

Safeguarding Information An enhanced DBS check is required for this post. The successful applicant must either apply for a DBS or give Northern Arch Learning Partnership consent to check their status if they are registered with the DBS Update Service. The Trust complies with the Code of Practice issued by the Disclosure and Barring Service.
