Post-1 August 2020, Education Authorities can only appoint the following categories of people as permanent Head Teachers:
1. Those who have achieved the Standard for Headship.
2. Individuals appointed as permanent Head Teachers of a public, grant-aided, or independent school on or before 1 August 2020.
Persons who have not yet achieved the Standard for Headship may be appointed as head teachers for up to 30 months.
We invite applications for a motivated and enthusiastic Head Teacher to join Simpson Primary School and Early Learning and Childcare (ELC).
Our vision at Simpson Primary and ELC is to strive for excellence, which is central to our school's ethos.
Simpson Primary School and ELC is a non-denominational school serving Bathgate, part of the Bathgate Academy Cluster. For the 2024-25 session, the school has a roll of 602 pupils across 22 classes, with 87 children in ELC. The management team includes a Head Teacher, 2 Depute Head Teachers, and 2 Principal Teachers, supported by Pupil Support Workers. ELC staffing comprises 2 Early Years Officers and 9 Early Years Practitioners.
The school fosters a strong community ethos and benefits from a supportive Parent Council, which collaborates closely with the school to enhance its work and organize fundraising events.
This position involves Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and/or Protected Adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. Successful candidates will need to join the Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme Update check before starting employment, with costs covered by the candidate.
The fee for Full PVG Scheme Membership is £59; existing members pay £18.
