We are seeking to appoint an inspirational music teacher specialising in Electric and Bass Guitar. This opportunity is offered on a self-employed basis and is currently a temporary position, until December 2025 as a minimum, with the possibility that this could become long term.
The successful candidate will be an outstanding musician with the ability to teach and inspire young musicians at every stage of their musical development. The coaching of bands and the ability to teach on the 'RGS Period 8 Programme', which takes place every Monday afternoon (15:20 - 16:30) and for five full activity (field) days across the year would also be desirable.
The RGS has a vibrant and flourishing contemporary music scene with many boys actively involved through 1-1 lessons, numerous bands, the P8 Rock Music programme, and the biannual rock gig at the nationally recognised venue - The Boileroom.
_You will have:_
* Experience teaching individual electric guitar and bass guitar (as required)
* A wide knowledge of repertoire
* The ability to teach pupils from beginner up to advanced level, both from a technical and musical perspective
* Some awareness of relevant exam boards (e.g. Rock School and Trinity)
* The ability and willingness to take part in the department’s co-curricular programme and oversee the coaching of several bands across the school, preparing them for events both in school and in the local area.
You will be teaching approximately 15 pupils (equating to 7.5 hours’ worth of teaching). Lessons are 30-minutes long and the expectation is that you will teach 30 lessons for each pupil over the course of the academic year.
There will be the opportunity to take on additional responsibilities such as the oversight and co-ordination of the biannual 'RGS Rock' at The Boileroom.
