Overview
A senior pelvic uro‑oncology fellowship (robotic surgery) is offered as a one‑year fixed‑term contract from August 2024. Candidates are expected to hold FRCS(Urol) or equivalent, have obtained any required English language qualification (e.g. IELTS), and ideally have GMC registration or all necessary approvals to acquire it.
The appointment is on a whole‑time basis but applications are welcome from those who wish to job‑share. Candidates who are unable to work full‑time will be considered, with job content modification discussed on a personal basis following consultation. Suitable job‑share candidates will receive serious consideration.
The department seeks to appoint a Pelvic Uro‑Oncology Fellow (CCT level) for this robotic surgery fellowship, based within the Professorial Surgical Unit at the Nuffield Department of Surgery and Churchill Hospital Cancer Centre.
Subspecialist fellowship training is available in all aspects of pelvic oncology, including robotic prostatectomy, robotic cystectomy, open cystectomy and multidisciplinary open pelvic exenteration cases. Three dedicated Surgical Care Practitioners (SCPs) assist with the majority of robotic procedures. The post will also provide paid protected time (10 %) to undertake oncological research, with negotiable extended fellowship periods (18 months or two years) for those interested in more comprehensive scientific projects. Fellows are expected to produce several research outputs for presentation at international meetings and publication in peer‑reviewed journals.

Responsibilities
* Work with the members of the Oxford Pelvic Oncology Group to deliver prostate and bladder cancer care.
* Participate in a weekly Specialist Pelvic Oncology session.
* Attend general urology clinics.
* Provide a weekly diagnostic list (prostate biopsies or flexible cystoscopies).
* Participate in morning ward rounds.
* Join the 1:9 Urology emergency on‑call rota.
* Assist occasionally when the SCP is on leave or otherwise unavailable.
* Convene fortnightly robotic assisted radical prostatectomy (RARP) planning meetings.
* Take a lead role in planning, projecting, conducting, and publishing several research projects relevant to the service.
* Maintain up‑to‑date and accurate administrative and medical records.
* Supervise and teach junior doctors and nurses.
* Act as a tutor for medical students and deliver clinical teaching related to general surgical topics as required.
* Maintain an accurate log of surgical, educational, research, and clinical activities.
Education & Qualifications
