We are seeking a patient, caring, and committed SEN Teaching Assistant to join a supportive primary school in Sheffield, starting ASAP. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone passionate about helping pupils with special educational needs achieve their full potential in a nurturing and inclusive environment.
The school has a strong inclusive ethos and a well-established SEN provision. You will work closely with the SENCO, class teachers, and other support staff to provide targeted support for pupils with a range of additional needs, including autism (ASC), ADHD, SEMH, and other learning difficulties.
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will support pupils on a 1:1 or small-group basis, helping them access the curriculum, build confidence, and develop key skills. Your role will be essential in creating a safe and positive learning environment where pupils feel supported and valued.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide 1:1 or small-group support to pupils with SEN
* Assist pupils with academic tasks, communication, and social development
* Implement strategies from EHCPs and individual support plans
* Promote positive behaviour, independence, and confidence
* Support pupils during lessons, transitions, and playtimes
* Monitor, record, and report pupil progress to teachers and SENCO
* Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCO, and support staff
* Create a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment
* Encourage social interaction and peer engagement
* Follow safeguarding and school policies at all times
