Posted: 16 February
Offer description

Here is an exciting opportunity for someone who has a passion to make a difference to join our Strategic Housing Service to support the delivery of private sector housing enforcement services.

This fast-paced and varied role will deliver private sector housing enforcement and improvement services and projects, helping to improve local housing. This work is a key part of the Council's strategic objectives in the Corporate Plan, Wakefield Housing Plan and the Wakefield District Plan.

This role’s duties will include:

1. Investigating and responding to empty property complaints, and delivering enforcement action to bring these properties back in to use
2. Supporting the delivery of area focused proactive housing improvement projects
3. Supporting the administration and monitoring of housing enforcement activity
4. Working in partnership with and liaising closely with tenants, stakeholders, and private landlords to deliver housing improvements
5. Delivering Wakefield Responsible Landlord Scheme property inspections and administration

You will have experience of delivering projects, including administration using IT systems, and experience of working with the public and in partnerships within a small team. You will have the ability to work from your own initiative, prioritising and managing your own workload, as well as delivering excellent customer services and communication. Experience of delivering local authority private sector housing services would be an advantage, although not essential, as all training will be provided.

This is a temporary role until 31 March providing secondment cover. It is based in the Strategic Housing service and will report to the Housing and Neighbourhood Improvement Manager. It will involve a mix of office, site, and home working, and is based at Wakefield One offices in Wakefield city centre.

Benefits include:

8. Generous annual leave holiday plus up to 15 days/year flexi leave allowance
9. Hybrid working - home and office based
10. Excellent local government pension scheme
