Nursery Educator (Level 3)
Essential Qualifications & Skills
Educated to a minimum Grade 4 (previously C grade) at GCSE (or equivalent) in:
-English / Literacy
-Maths / Numeracy
-ICT / Digital Skills
•Hold a relevant and up-to-date Level 3 Early Years qualification in Childcare and Education (aligned with the current DfE-approved qualifications list).
* Be willing to undertake ongoing professional development as required by the company and or new legislative requirements.
* Demonstrate effective, professional communication skills with children, families, colleagues, external agencies, and support services.
* Have a secure and current knowledge of child development and the EYFS framework.
* Be able and willing to safeguard and promote the welfare of children in line with the latest statutory guidance.
* Be able and willing to support children's transitions (room moves, transitions to school, changes in care arrangements).
* Be able and willing to contribute to multi-agency, integrated working, supporting early intervention and SEND processes.
* Be able and willing to share information appropriately while maintaining professional confidentiality and meeting GDPR requirements.
Line Management
The Nursery Educator (Level 3) will be line-managed by:
* Nursery Educator (Trainee Room Leader)
* Senior Nursery Educator (Room Leader)
* Deputy Nursery Manager
* Nursery Manager
* Area Manager
* Managing Director
Training
· Successfully complete all required training in Childcare and Education as directed by the company and/or statutory agencies.
· Willingness to attend all paid training sessions arranged by Nannas Day Nurseries including First Aid and Safeguarding.
· Willingness to attend additional professional development opportunities including online training and team events.
· Engage in reflective practice, using feedback and observation to improve professional skills.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
* Uphold and reflect the ethos, values, and professional standards of Nannas Day Nurseries in all areas of work.
* Ensure consistently high standards of physical, emotional, social, and intellectual care for all children.
* Support the Room Leader with the effective daily running of the room, including:
– Helping to maintain routines, planning, and organisation
– Leading small group activities when required
– Supporting room checks, and safety compliance
– Assisting in modelling good practice for less experienced staff or apprentices
– Helping to manage the room environment, resources, risk assessments, and behaviour expectations
* Provide professional and proactive support to fellow team members.
* Support the Room Leader and colleagues in implementing the daily routine and maintaining a well-organised, safe and stimulating environment.
* Follow all Nannas Day Nurseries policies and procedures and ensure these are reflected within your daily practice (including Safeguarding Children, Confidentiality and the Code of Conduct.)
* Plan, prepare, and deliver activities that meet the individual needs, interests, and developmental stages of your key children.
* Maintain up-to-date Education Programs for all of your key children ensuring observations, assessments and next steps reflect the settings curriculum and that information is shared appropriately with parents/carers and other professionals as required.
* Support children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), working in partnership with the nursery's SENCO and external agencies as required.
* Demonstrate good teamwork and contribute to a positive and inclusive working environment.
* Model and promote good practice, including safeguarding, communication, and positive behaviour support.
* Ability to work in a way that promotes the safety and wellbeing of children and young people and ensure that any safeguarding or child protection concerns are reported promptly following nursery procedures.
· Adhere to the Whistleblowing Policy and always maintain professional integrity.
* Promote equality, diversity, and inclusion across all aspects of practice.
* Undertake additional duties as required in line with the needs of the setting.
* Contribute to maintaining a clean, safe, and engaging learning environment.
· Support and participate in nursery events such as open evenings, children's festivals, or family days, including occasional evenings or weekends-you will receive any time back in lieu.
* Promote the nursery's professional reputation positively within the community and online.
Contra-Indicators (Unsuitable Candidates)
* Any record of criminal behaviour or offences that may make an individual unsuitable to work with children.
* Any action or sanction from Children's Safeguarding Services.
* Any "Disqualification" ruling under the Childcare Act or related legislation.
* Failure to disclose relevant information relating to suitability to work with children.
